Abstract

Music comes from the word Mousikos in Greek, symbolized by the Greek god of beauty who mastered the arts and sciences. In human life, Music has many health benefits that can provide mental strengthening for anyone who listens to it. As a student who is busy with the learning process, this can trigger stress and if not treated can cause depression. So a student needs a moodboster or encouragement in his daily life. One moodbooster that is easy for students to get is Music so that it can reduce stress levels due to the learning process in lectures. This research aims to measure the level of mood felt by psychology faculty students at Islamic State University Palembang when listening to the sincere album Tulus "Human". It is hoped that students who listen to the sincere human album will experience a reduction in stress levels during their academic process. Scientifically, the research carried out uses cognitive behavioral theory as its basic basis. This theory states that stress arises due to negative and irrational thoughts. So there are several ways you can change these irrational thoughts, one of which is by listening to Music that contains positive lyrics. The aim is to foster feelings of optimism in a listener and to calm them down. To measure the mood level of students who listened to Tulus "Human" Music, the author carried out measurements using the Profile of Mood States (POMS) scale created by McNair, D., Lorr, M., & Droppleman, L in 1971. This scale consists of 65 items that measure aspects: 1) Fatigue (KLH), 2) Angry Mood (AMR), 3) Feelings of Spirit (PES), 4) Tension (KTG), 5) Self-Assessment (PDR), 6) Confused Mood (SSB), 7) Depression (DPS). Of the 65 items, in this study the item scale used was only 35 items, consisting of 5 items for aspect.
