Grit And Academic Motivation of Esport Game Players: A Correlational Study Among University Student

Bermain Game eSport di kalangan mahasiswa sering dikaitkan dengan dampak negatif secara akademik daripada dampak positif terkait konsistensi minat dan ketekunan usaha yaitu Grit yang menjadi prediktor motivasi akademik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis korelasi antara grit dengan motivasi akademik pada 171 mahasiswa pemain game eSport di Aceh yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Sampel penelitian berpartisipasi aktif mengisi instrumen penelitian berupa skala Grit-O dan skala Motivasi Akademik (AMS) versi singkat Bahasa Indonesia. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa grit berkorelasi positif dengan motivasi intrinsik dan berkorelasi negatif dengan amotivasi, dengan artian bahwa semakin tinggi grit, semakin tinggi motivasi instrinsik, sedangkan amotivasi menurun. Penelitian ini mengkaji dampak positif eSport dan mendorong penelitian eksplorasi terkait manfaat bermain game eSport sehingga menjadi implikasi praktis dalam merancang sistem pendukung untuk meminimalkan dampak negatif yang ditimbulkan.
