Abstract

Public speaking anxiety is influenced by several factors, namely external and internal factors. There are three external factors, namely the new environment, culture, and communication in the family. Parents are one of the keys to successful child behavior in everything, both in communication and in formal education. Meanwhile, there are two internal factors, namely positive and negative mindsets, and communication skills. This study aims to determine the effect of expressive writing therapy on the level of public speaking anxiety in students of the Faculty of Psychology UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. This research uses a quantitative type. By using pre-experimental design and one-group pretest-posttest type. The research subjects consisted of 15 active students of batch 2023 of the Faculty of Psychology UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. It can be concluded that the test results show the anxiety level of students after being given expressive writing therapy (post-test) is lower than the anxiety level before therapy (pre-test). It can be concluded from the results of this study, that expressive writing therapy can affect the level of public speaking anxiety of students of the Faculty of Psychology UIN Raden Fatah Palembang.
